Here's one from back in the day.
I think we (the concept designers and I) were trying our best to mock games that didn't seem to take weapon balance into account.
SO in its place we made a Quake mod where every weapon was unbalanced.
Rules
- All the prior weapons and ammo have been converted into a roulette of the weapons below. There is no ammo. Weapons periodically cycle for the benefit of the flavor of the round.
- Everyone starts with their typical 100 health, but the health upper bound is now 999. Zero health still kills you.
- When a player or monster dies, it drops a random rune. Runes also pop out of weapons when they spawn. Runes stack. Too many runes make you OP.
- Kill too many players in a row and the game is forced to assume you are OP and will have to kill you. It telefrags you with a "Shambler of Smite," which is a flying, agile shambler that has no range lightning, yet still instantly kills anything with its swing attack. This is only to be fair, so you can rest easy knowing your OP run was the cause of the death of others, and that not only you were punished for your mistakes.
- The SOS will go away after a while, don't worry. But be warned, its attack isn't just an instant kill, but rather a telefrag, spawning another SOS over its victim. They multiply pretty quickly.
Controls
- Impulse 10 + 12 now only swap weapons. If you stand over a weapon, its name will appear in the center of your view. Push impulse 10 or 12 to exchange your weapon with it.
- Impulse 68 + 69 are hook-in and hook-out. I forget if I automatically alias'd it to "+hook" and "-hook" for you. Either way, yes, hook is in this.
- Impulse 20 + 21 are for cycling to the previous or next weapon. Solely for single player, solely for debugging.
- Impulse 200 is a SOS suicide. Revenge is a dish best served cold.
- "Temp1" is your monster life multiplier, for the benefit of single player or cooperative mode. Set it negative to give monsters respawn.

Mega Head Bomb | Lightning/Explosion | Fires out a head at your feet. The head follows you around as if it were on a leash. Fire again to remotely detonate. Does a decent explosion with a decent shockwave. It also goes off when you die. Good insurance. |
